Vision benefits are increasingly becoming a higher visibility healthcare benefit, which can be administered on a self-insured or fully-insured basis, and as an employer-sponsored or voluntary benefit. Effective eye care can be the key to early detection of disease.
Through a stringent RFP process, the Council recognized that there are two types of service models for delivering vision benefits. As a result, Health Action Council Ohio procured “best-in-class” programs from both EyeMed Vision Care and Vision Service Plan (VSP), enabling more HAC members the opportunity to save on pricing. Each vendor has strengths, and both have loyal customers.
Vision Service Plan (VSP)
VSP offers a independent network model featuring more than 23,000 Ophthalmologist (MD) and Optometrist (OD) providers. Our program rates are available at date of renewal for all participating Health Action Council members. To learn more CLICK HERE.
EyeMed Vision Care
EyeMed offers an integrated network of recognized retail, optical providers (LensCrafters, Pearle Vision, Sears and Target Optical) who feature Luxottica designer frames, and independent Optometrist and Ophthalmologist providers. New EyeMed rates became effective January 1, 2007 for participating Health Action Council members. To learn more CLICK HERE.
