Education & Communication
The Health Action Council Education and Communication Committee has two primary responsibilities:
  • Provide regular forums in northeast Ohio for the discussion of healthcare issues.
  • Assist members in communicating with their employees through best practice sharing, shared services and joint projects;
Sessions present information on timely topics, including legislation, prescription drug costs and plan design. We aim to increase member knowledge and to supply practical suggestions they can apply in their planning and administrative roles. Central to our format is the member case study. By sharing expertise with their peers, our members add to the quality of care throughout our region, and smaller employers learn from organizations with more resources. Our members believe that these opportunities to build their knowledge and gain practical information are one or the most valuable benefits they gain from participating in the Council.

Ongoing educational programming takes several forms:
  • An annual all-day Kick-Off Conference for members, other employers and vendors. To learn more about last year’s conference, click here.
  • Breakfast Seminars and web casts on topics of common interest to the benefits industry of NE Ohio.
  • Employer member-only forums including focused one-half day workshops and informal “share and compare” lunches.

An evolving role of this committee is to develop an editorial agenda for the upcoming year and propose projects that assist members in communicating with their employees. One such project is the:

  • Communication Network, an evolving sample-sharing capacity for HAC employer members.
